Automobiles in German City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities stated they were notified by a resident who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials say initial examinations suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

A high-ranking representative said the incident made him without words and required to be addressed quickly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
